Mage / Wizard / Sorcerer

Through years of study, mages have learned the art of sorcery, tapping into the magical veil that surrounds all things and manipulating it into great feats of wizardly might.

Spells wielded by mages are specialized to inflict incredible damage upon an opponent or a group of foes simultaneously. They are masters of offensive casting, able to bring down armies with the wave of a hand. Such immense power comes at a grave price, however, as mages must dedicate all of their time to seeking and studying new spells. For this reason, their physical fighting prowess is amongst the weakest of all the classes. A mage at a distance is a thing of nightmares, yet up close, they are an easy target.

Clerics are dedicated to the worship of the deities of the realms, using the powers granted to them by their gods to perform such miracles as curing the sick, healing the mortally wounded, or smiting the forces of the undead with divine might as no other can.

Clerics train with a multitude of weaponry and fighting styles to better protect themselves as they minister their religion in the hedonistic cities and wilds of the realms. Though they are neither the strongest of fighting classes, nor proficient with spells as mages are, clerics are a durable and useful addition to any
adventuring party.

Thief / Mercenary / Assassin

A thief is a secretive and wily creature, living in the shadows and relying upon his/her ability to remain unnoticed to make a living, and that living is always at the expense of another's loss. Thieves are the masters of misdirection and disguise, using their crafty skills to steal from others or pick locked doors and chests. In a skirmish, a thief will always fight dirty, using every dishonorable trick in the book to gain the upper hand, from striking from behind, to tripping
or gouging the eyes.

There are few people that are as personable as a thief can be, for a thief must be a silver-tongued, charismatic speaker in order to pull off a hasty lie. Above all else, a thief should never be trusted, even by another thief, for there is no honor amongst thieves.

The rugged wilderness breeds a hardiness and quality of life that few can master, yet rangers seem to relish in the challenge of it. Risk and daring adventures on the wild side are as important as life blood to nature's warriors. Rangers live as one with the land, yet do not worship it as the druids do. They hold a profound respect for nature, for it provides them with the sport of the hunt and the thrill of the fight. Few can equal a ranger's abilities in the wilds.

The ranger is the consummate survivalist. Their superior fighting skills and minor druidic abilities ensure that they can overcome any threat or challenge that they choose to undertake.

Warriors are the backbone of society in a chaotic world. No other class can approach the fighting prowess of a warrior, their years of training and dedicated practice of fighting techniques yield a degree of perfection that cannot be matched. A warrior in action is a thing to behold; the artistry of form and fluid motion meld as the fighter becomes one with their weapon, weaving in a deadly dance against an overmatched foe.

Mastery of weaponry, however, leaves the warrior with little time to pursue knowledge or gain spiritual awareness. They are, as a result of this shortcoming, quite unable to use spells or invoke miracles.

Druids are priests of the natural balance, serving to protect, revitalize and strengthen the wilds of the world. They are students of the ways of the primal world, with a great understanding of Nature and her aims.

Druids are able to use minor clerical and mage abilities, however, they derive the majority of their power from the elements. They are able to draw life energy from surrounding flora and fauna, and manipulate the very weather to their bidding. The wrath of nature herself is at a druid's beck and call.

The legions of the living dead are greatly feared in the realms, but few denizens approach the depravity of the vampire. These evil creatures rule the dark places that the light is afraid to touch, hunting the unwary, and feasting with animalistic pleasure upon their murderous bounty. Above all else, vampires are brutal slayers, driven by insatiable hunger and primal bloodlust. They are profoundly jealous of the living, despising them as cattle to be slain for sustenance.

A vampire is a dangerous opponent in battle, using its natural ability to siphon life energy from an opponent and use it to revitalize itself in the midst of the fight. Their knowledge of the necromantic arts make vampires deadly foes.

Conjurers derive their abilities from the depths of their own mind, through mental manipulation and psychic emanations. The sheer willpower of a conjurer is enough to drop a raging giant to its knees, without the conjurer having to break a sweat or lift a finger.

Conjurers do not require time to study spells, are servant to no deity, and are not bound by the verbal and hand requirements of casting to bring their powers to bear. A conjurer's greatest assets and deficits are his/her own ego, id, and superego.
